Abstract

For many years, the “Vision Zero” has been designed for the long term to eliminate the deaths and serious injuries of traffic accidents. In addition, zero emissions and zero traffic jams are also being pursued. New technologies play an important role in achieving this aim. The integrated safety model includes different phases starting from the driver assistance systems and finishing with tertiary safety systems, comprising primary and secondary safety systems, as well as the interaction between both of them. Furthermore, assistance systems could also be useful for improving traffic efficiency and could be considered as the first step for higher automation levels.
