Abstract

A variety of disorders—including infectious, inflammatory, hereditary, and metabolic diseases—may affect both the nervous system and digestive system. These diseases can be divided into three categories according to the different etiologies: (1) Neurological changes caused by abnormal absorption or metabolism of nutrients, (2) The manifestation of congenital syndromes in digestive and nervous systems, and (3) Systemic diseases involving both digestive and nervous systems.
