Abstract

Abstract Nano zero-valent iron (nZVI) has received significant attention for its potential applications in the area of removing all kinds of toxic and radioactive metal ions. This chapter summarizes the preparation and use of pristine nZVI, modified nZVI, and supported nZVI. The physicochemical properties as well as the adsorption and reduction behaviors and mechanisms are also discussed in the cleanup of hazardous metal ion wastewater. Moreover, the advantages and limitations of the types of nZVI-based material and their functionality are evaluated. The scopes and limitations of these adsorbents will be addressed while investigating the various types of hazardous metal ions that are harmful.
