Abstract

The work presents the integrated methodology to assess state of urban lakes such as Opechen, Verbne, and Red’kyne in Kyiv (Kiev), Ukraine. The methodology includes structural-textural analysis of satellite images, multicriteria optimization method, and method based on statistical criteria. Spectral-texture analysis of satellite images was used to get input information for remote assessment of reservoirs as index images: Normalized Difference Pond Index (NDPI), Normalized Difference Turbidity Index (NDTI), and Normalized Difference Algae Index (NDAI) computed from the Sentinel-2. However, surface temperature distribution was estimated from the Landsat-8. The multicriteria optimization method was applied to establish the relationship between the remote sensing indicators for assessment of urban lakes state with the ground research indicators. This helped to obtain an average single integrated assessment of the state of urban water bodies. Finally, the cartographic representation of quality maps was produced.
