Abstract

Since the 1950s, reflection seismic data processing has been an indispensable branch of science included in the petroleum exploration industry. Many people think that the goal of seismic data processing is to improve the resolution and the signal-to-noise ratio of reflection seismic data. From the viewpoint of wave equations, the variation of the data flow in reflection data processing, which is the essence of seismic processing, is actually the progressive simplification of the solutions of wave equation boundary value problems. Wave equations can be finally simplified to the acoustic wave field corresponding to zero initial conditions and with boundaries located at reflectors.
