Abstract
This chapter discusses simplified design approaches for Exar Corporation voltage-frequency converters (VFCs) (the XR-4151). These circuits can be used the way they are, or by altering component values, as a basis for simplified design of similar VFC applications. The chapter discusses the description of XR-4151, basic VFC operation, and precision VFC. The chapter further discusses basic FVC design example, precision FVC design example, XR-4151 design considerations, programming the XR-4151, VFC design example (100 kHz, -10 V), VFC design example (1 Hz, 10 V), and FVC design example.
