Abstract
Extracellular potentials enable us to record neuronal activities in the brain through extracellular media. The extracellular field consists of the membrane ionic currents, including Na+ and Ca2+ spikes, and intrinsic membrane oscillations. Spike sorting as a crucial step to extract and analyze extracellular recordings has been explained.
