Abstract

This chapter discusses the applications of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) in display devices including field emission displays (FEDs), liquid crystal displays (LCDs), organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), and other kinds display such as thermochromic displays, incandescence displays, etc. CNTs can find various applications in different display devices. In FEDs, CNTs can be used as the field emitter. The CNT emitter made with CNT array, CNT paste, and superaligned CNT yarn and film can all be used in FEDs. CNTs can be used as the transparent conductive film (TCF), alignment layer, and touch panel in LCDs. In the OLED display, CNTs can be used as the TCF and thin film transistor (TFT) to fabricate a flexible OLED. A CNT microheater array can be used as an incandescence display in a vacuum, and thermochromic display in an atmosphere loaded with pigments. It is hoped to find more applications for CNTs in future display devices.
