Abstract
Definitions and application of the batch process along with different standards in the batch process are outlined. The batch control models and terminologies with respect to the S88 standards are provided. Some of the concepts such as physical models, procedural control models, recipe models, and process models are outlined. The batch data structures and guidelines are provided for the programming of the batch control applications. The economics of implementation of the batch automation strategies are provided for the new user of the application to the plants in terms of the justification for the projects. The 21CFR Part 11 compliance in the batch industry is outlined. In addition the challenges in the batch process are discussed. Typical batch process control programming applications guidelines and topologies of the systems implementation are discussed.
