Abstract

Since the identification almost 20years ago of an adipocyte–brain–sympathetic nervous system axis regulating both arms of bone remodeling in mice, many studies have refined the molecular and cellular bases of this pathway and/or exposed other neuronal mediators regulating bone mass homeostasis. This chapter describes these novel regulatory pathways and presents the clinical studies that have validated their existence and functionality in human physiology and/or pathophysiology.
