Abstract
The security analysis of computer networks has become a more essential but complicated topic with the proliferation of information and communications systems. In this chapter, we present a comprehensive review of security analysis of computer networks. Moreover, we discuss key concepts and methodologies utilized in this field. We identify fundamental security objectives and describe security analysis approaches. For information systems, we lay out the taxonomies for vulnerability and malware leading to exploits and network attacks. Finally, we introduce some emerging topics which will drive future research efforts, and enable novel approaches and schemes for security analysis of computer networks.
