Abstract

This review is focused on determining the relationship between meat, fat, and fruit consumption and autoimmune neurological and brain disease. How specific nutritional components influence and impact brain and neurological autoimmune diseases will be explored. The diseases that are focused on in this review are multiple sclerosis (MS), myasthenia gravis (MG), and Alzheimer’s disease (AD). There have been findings that have linked specific nutritional components with an influence on MS and AD onset and progression; however, there has been almost no research revealing any details of a relationship between nutritional components and MG onset and progression. More research and attention is needed in the area of the mechanisms of brain and neural autoimmune diseases, as such research could allow for a much greater understanding of specific autoimmune diseases; this in effect would allow for a greater understanding of how different nutritional components can influence specific autoimmune diseases.
