Abstract

Prison escape has been narrated as part of news sections, historical romances or TV fictions. Rarely has the academy taken into consideration the escape as part of prison life. This chapter aims to analyse prisoners’ biographies underlining the escape (or attempt of) experiences. Based on data collected within prisons in Northern Italy between 2012 and 2014, the chapter takes into consideration the impact of the detention in subjects that have at least one prison break experience, accentuating the relevance of an importation model 1 and introducing the idea of escape as prisoner’s resistance adaptation.
