Abstract

Collaborative robots work closely with human workers in a shared workspace. Unlike traditional industrial robots, collaborative robots do not need to be isolated for safety reasons. By combining the strength and precision of collaborative robots with the flexibility of human workers, collaborative robots can cooperate with human workers to perform complex tasks. While improving the quality of products and the efficiency of production, the application of collaborative robots can also effectively reduce the possibility of injury to human workers. In this chapter, the basic situation, development progress, application fields, and key technologies of collaborative robots are introduced. Then, the introduction of the main components of collaborative robots is given. Finally, the visual perception involved in collaborative robots is introduced. At the end of this chapter, the whole chapter is summarized, and some prospects for the future development of collaborative robots are given.
