Abstract

Ferrites are exceptional magnetic materials that exhibit both magnetic and electric properties. Therefore, it is a commercially and scientifically important to study them for electronics, household appliances, communication, automotive, energy storage device, chip ferrite market, etc., applications Understanding the correlation between the structure, magnetic properties and applications needs collaborative efforts between chemists, physicists, and materials scientists to study both fundamental properties and potential applications. This chapter introduces classifications of spinel ferrites based on an occupancy of cations and magnetic field according to the mechanism responsible for the magnetic properties. The fundamental magnetic properties of interest and the theoretical frameworks developed to model these properties are summarized which provide a better understanding of structural arrangement. At last, the properties of ferrite with examples are briefed.
