Abstract

Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the reactions of inorganic nonmetallic halogen, sulfur, and nitrogen compounds. Kinetic studies have been made involving halogen compounds so that the material is subdivided. On the other hand, reactions involving sulfur compounds for which rate coefficient data are available are few in number. Rate coefficient data is reported in various forms in the literature. In this chapter, rate coefficient data reported in the form k = A exp (-E/RT), and when necessary, the expressions in the literature have been recast in the above form. The literature values of rate coefficients, as a function of temperature, have been re-evaluated when possible by a least squares fitting procedure, which minimizes fractional deviations in log k. For these reasons, values of E and A reported in this chapter may differ slightly from those in the original references.
