Abstract
Contamination of water is an alarming issue in our society, and water scarcity increases the impact of the issue. The re-usage of contaminated water is the best strategy to increase water availability, especially for agriculture. However, it is essential to remediate the contaminated water before using it for irrigation. The application of nanoparticles in water remediation is an advanced method that has different advantages over conventional clearing methods. Of the different nanoparticle biosynthesis processes, green synthesis is the better one, where the metallic nanoparticles have been transformed to incorporate various biological materials (e.g., bacteria, fungi, algae, and plant extracts). In addition, this biogenic nanoparticle shows better performance related to metallic ones. This chapter is a comprehensive approach to wastewater remediation using nanoparticles and the applications of biogenic nanoparticles in water purification.
