Abstract
This chapter focuses on the use of Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), MS-AD, RADIUS, and TACAS+ integration for user authentication. It describes how to integrate the components. User management is accomplished in the source directory, LDAP, not in FireWall-1. Today most organizations can create Web sites that enable end users to modify or change their passwords. Overall, the use of these features assists an organization that seeks to enable a more centralized security and authentication model. Administrators of virtual primary network (VPN)-1/FireWall-1 can integrate their authentication services with existing directory services or legacy authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA) servers. This opportunity presents endless combinations, from tokens to LDAP directories. Active Directory (AD) integration is more mature than ever with the integrated graphical user interface (GUI) and easy setup. Check point introduces its own load-balancing and configuration options to AD. Administrators are able to use AD without modifying the AD schema.
