Abstract
There exist numerous methods for solving linear systems of equations, as we have seen. However, in numerous applications we do not encounter purely linear systems of equations. These so-called non-linear systems of equations are a challenge of their own. In comparison to linear systems where we have a multitude of methods to chose from there are only a few relevant methods to solve non-linear systems of equations. In this section, we will introduce one of these methods which is referred to as Newton's method.
