Abstract
In some patients with gastroparesis, abdominal pain can be a prominent component of their symptoms. The cause of abdominal pain in gastroparesis is not known. Treatment of abdominal pain, as well as any type of pain, in patients with gastroparesis is difficult, as some of the treatments may impact adversely on gastric emptying and other symptoms of gastroparesis. This chapter discusses the pathophysiology of abdominal pain and the management of abdominal pain in patients with gastroparesis.
