Abstract

An elderly woman presents to the emergency department after being found down and altered in her assisted living facility. She is noted to have left gaze deviation, aphasia, and right-sided hemiparesis, concerning for a stroke. A head CT with CT angiography and perfusion demonstrates a left proximal middle cerebral artery occlusion. Neurosurgery is consulted for mechanical thrombectomy.
