Abstract

This chapter describes the general theory of the switching circuits operation. It reviews the general form of the recurrence equation for normally delayed relays. A network with contacts and relays has three types of elements: (1) input elements; (2) secondary elements; and (3) output elements. that the chapter presents an assumption in which input elements A,…..,C each having a number of possible positions, have a total of m possible positions. A variable K in a set of m elements is associated to the set of input elements. The m values that the variable K can take will be called the position of the input elements. Secondary elements can be of various types. The state of the currents and contacts at a given instant N determines the state of the contacts at the following instant N +1. The state of the output elements depends on the state of the contacts of both the input and the secondary elements.
