Abstract

This chapter reviews work on energy harvesters with a novel mechanical design and high output performance from various sources of walking motion. The functionality, configuration, and characteristics of energy harvesters are investigated with various energy harvesting transduction techniques and material properties. The design requirements of physical size, output performance, working conditions, and structural safety are main challenges for energy harvesters. To address these issues, several potential energy harvesting techniques are demonstrated and for application in real situations.
