Abstract

This chapter introduces the basic concepts to the representation of the induction machine and the three-phase power converter connected to the electrical grid dynamic models. In this context, the representation in three-phase systems using the space vector concept will be presented. With the space vector notation, two representations of the mentioned systems will employ the stationary and synchronous frames of reference. Additionally, the modulation techniques such as sinusoidal pulse width modulation, sinusoidal plus third harmonic pulse width modulation, and space vector modulation that allows synthesizing voltages with several amplitudes and frequencies will be explained.
