Abstract

Nanomaterials, due to their outstanding properties, are identified as performance enhancers by improving the microstructure, the fresh and hardened state properties of cement-based composites. In recent years, various nanomaterials are used to investigate their effect on geopolymerization reaction, the fresh and hardened state properties, microstructure, and durability of geopolymer composites. This chapter mainly focuses on the effects of various nanomaterials as additives such as nano-SiO2, nanoclay, nano-Al2O3, carbon nanotubes, and nano-TiO2 on geopolymer paste, mortar, and concrete derived from various industrial by-products as sources of aluminosilicates.
