Abstract

The basic principles are invoked to derive the fundamental equations of fluid in motion. To do so, the continuum concept, the Eulerian and Lagrangian frameworks, and the Reynolds transport theorem are presented in order. The continuity and momentum equations corresponding to the familiar laminar flow are derived and Reynolds decomposition is applied to deduce the same equations for turbulent flow.
