Abstract

Abstract This chapter presents a detailed discussion of compound refractive lenses (CRLs) and prisms applied to refractive X-ray and neutron optics, which was introduced in the introduction and overview of neutron and X-ray optics in Chapter 1 . The focus of this chapter is geometric and traditional optics applied to neutron and X-ray single and stacked lenses and prisms. The chapter covers an extensive list of CRL concepts and topics with full derivations and serves as the starting point for the extensive coverage of neutron and X-ray optics covered in the rest of this and forthcoming volumes.
