Abstract
This chapter provides a brief description of the history of pesticide legislation and registration in the United States and general procedures that must be followed. It explains the purpose and complexity of Federal pesticide laws and the role of pesticide registration and regulation. The chapter provides readers with information about the protection that the regulatory process provides the US public, so that they become familiar with the basic steps of pesticide registration under US law.
