Abstract

Spinal cord lesions produce dramatic neurologic deficits including paraparesis, quadriparesis, sensory loss, and dysautonomia. MRI of the spinal cord is an important adjunct to the history and physical examination in determining the etiology of myelopathy. Myelopathy is a term which encompasses a broad range of spinal cord pathologies, whereas myelitis specifically alludes to spinal cord inflammation (commonly occurring with immune-mediated myelopathies).
