Abstract

The discipline of nanoscience and nanotechnology has witnessed considerable attention and growth by the magical material, graphene, since 2004. Graphene has tremendous potential to make significant changes in ordinary material. Thus, it has been used in the field of sensing applications because of its high aspect ratio, excellent electrical conductivity, good mechanical strength, thermal stability, and surface functionalization. Formation of functionalized graphene and graphene-based nanocomposites are trusting the next generation sensing capabilities, which gives quick response to sense molecules in term of concentration and stable performance. Due to these all eye-catching properties, graphene and functionalized graphene nanocomposites are perfect candidates for replacement of ordinary bulky and heavy sensing equipment with next-generation high-tech, lightweight, high-sensitivity gas sensor materials. This chapter intends to focus on the gas-sensing applications of pristine graphene (PG) and functionalized graphene nanocomposites. It will bring upcoming new-generation potential in the area of gas sensing.
