Abstract

Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), is the largest and oldest Dutch technical university, located in Delft, The Netherlands. In fact, it has been considered the best university of technology in the country, and has been consistently ranked as one of the top 20 universities for engineering and technology worldwide. As of 2017, the TU Delft has a student population of 21,651. TU Delft was first established in 1842 as a Royal Academy, with the main purpose of training civil servants and civilian engineers for the colonies of the Dutch East India Company. After World War II, the School faced a rapid expansion in its academic programs, and finally changed its name to Delft University of Technology in 1986.
