Abstract
A pure Java-based software for the design and evaluation of pulse detonation engine (PDE) technology is developed in this chapter. This multiplatform software provides the core of a performance tool for the cross-comparisons of engine configurations and numerical methods. The software tools are based on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) methods, which facilitate the setup and analysis of the PDE-based propulsion system. A common software platform is used to avoid compatibility and portability constraints in the design software tools designed by the interaction of multiple research and development teams. This software is portable, flexible, and scalable. The portability guarantees that all software modules, including graphical user interfaces (GUI) and visualization procedures are operational on many computing platforms. Code flexibility implies easy maintenance and extension, implementation of new modules, and interface with existing software. Scalability provides efficient code parallelization and platform independency.
