Abstract

In this chapter, I will consider the more important of the interactions involved in the ecology and epidemiology of plant viruses, with illustrations of the ways they affect their survival and distribution. An understanding of the ecology and epidemiology of a virus in a particular crop and locality is essential for the development of appropriate methods for the control of the disease it causes. I then discuss the various approaches to controlling plant virus diseases.
