Abstract

There are various different pathways for biofuel production, and the selection of the most sustainable pathway among multiple different options is of vital importance. This study aims at helping the decision-makers/stakeholders to solve this problem by developing a multicriteria intuitionistic fuzzy group decision-making method for sustainability ranking of biofuel production pathways. In the developed multicriteria sustainability ranking method presented in this study, multiple different decision-makers/stakeholders are allowed to participate in the decision-making process, and they are also allowed to use the natural words to describe their intuitionistic opinions. An illustrative case including three pathways for biofuel production including corn-, wheat-, and cassava-based pathways for biofuel production was studied by the proposed method, and the results show that the proposed method can be used for sustainability ranking of biofuel production pathways.
