Abstract

Terms for enhancement of selectivity and yield under periodic operation are defined and classes of consecutive, competitive and parallel reactions are examined. Among those considered are consecutive reactions such as the catalytic reactions of ammonia and ethylene oxide, butadiene hydrogenation, acetylene hydrogenation, total oxidation, competitive reactions such as methanol synthesis, ethanol dehydration, parasitic reaction systems, methane homologation and oligomerization of ethene.
