Abstract

Plants contain vital nutrients for life along with bioactive phytochemicals that aid in disease prevention and health promotion. Commercial market aspect of plant-derived molecules has led to perceptiveness into various formulations. Plant-based novel delivery systems using lipids or polymers and the manner in which they are combined with recent technologies form the basis of current trends. Developed phytochemicals provide prevention from a variety of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). Chronic illnesses such as diabetes, cardiovascular and neurodegenerative disorders, cancer, and others are among them. Inadequate eating of fruits, vegetables, spices, and other foods is responsible for two-thirds of all deaths globally. Demand for phytochemicals is projected to rise due to changing lifestyles and their attention is drawn to their looks irrespective of its effect on reducing the bioavailability of some nutrients, and limiting protein and carbohydrate digestion. The phytochemicals and plant-based formulation business is still in its early stages of development, but it is expected to rise at a promising rate due to increased health concerns and awareness of the usage of organic and plant-based goods, among adults. This will help the sector to flourish in upcoming years.
