Abstract
Silver-coated fibers are one of the fundamental developments to improve the behavior of smart textiles. Chemically metallized silver threads are used to produce textiles with antistatic properties or to shield against electromagnetic waves. The high conducting yarns are processable by nearly every textile technology. They have a high bending stability. Based on these types of silver-coated yarns the door opened wide for a lot of applications in smart textiles and wearables. Luminescent textiles for automotive applications and sensorial structures for medical applications became available for instance. In the following chapter, materials, their manufacturing and applications are presented.
