Abstract
Digital twin (DT) technology provides accurate virtual replicas of the physical entities with consideration of geometry, kinematics, and dynamics. Thus performance of computerized numerical control machine tools (CNCMTs) can be authentically reflected through establishing a DT-based virtual prototype. Based on the DT-based CNCMTs virtual prototype established in Chapter 9, Digital twin based computerized numerical control machine tool virtual prototype design, a DT-based virtual commissioning method is proposed in this chapter. Two basic virtual commissioning functions, known as dynamic commissioning and kinematic commissioning, are supported by the developed DT-based virtual commissioning platform for detecting potential errors in the servo system and NC program (G code). Next, servo parameter tuning and virtual machining are taken as case studies to verify the proposed method. This method contributes to shortening the commissioning time, and the consistency between virtual prototype and CNCMTs guarantees the effectiveness of commissioning results.
