Chapter 10 - Security and privacy challenges in healthcare using Internet of Things

Abstract

Internet of Things (IoT) has become one of the promising technologies for analyzing and monitoring the health of patients. IoT technology has made it possible for networking from anything to anything. Therefore objects in the IoT domain include cell phones to building maintenance, from a jet engine to an airplane, in which all are connected with one another using the Internet. The IoT consists of an enormous network of the Internet that is connected with “things” and devices. IoT helps in reducing the time and efforts of persons. This term contributes to the healthcare field also. IoT devices help in collecting and analyzing healthcare data within very less time. In this chapter, we have discussed the role of IoT and various technologies that are used in healthcare. Nowadays, sending data from one place to other securely is the matter of concern, so we mainly focused on the security of healthcare using IoT. We have explained and provided the comparative study of the various security and privacy challenges in the field of healthcare with their applications. Finally, we have discussed a case study related to healthcare security.
