Abstract

This chapter describes therapies for the repair of acute and chronic skin wounds, burns, hair regeneration, and corneal regeneration. Therapies described for skin include topical agents such as growth factors that affect specific phases of wound repair, dermal templates to encourage regeneration from surrounding tissue, cell transplants, and application of bioartificial skin as a living wound dressing. The reasons for male pattern baldness and current topical treatments are discussed. The chapter concludes with a discussion of limbal cell transplants to replace damaged cornea.
