Abstract
Production of chemicals and fuels from residuals and spent pulping liquors is presented in this chapter. Isolation of lignin from black liquor by LignoBoost process is discussed. Lignin from LignoBoost process has very good properties and can be used as biofuel and also as binders, dispersants, emulsifiers, sequestrants, phenols, carbon fibers, etc. Lignin removal with the LignoBoost process opens up new opportunities for further conversion of a Kraft pulp mill to a biorefinery.
