Abstract

This chapter elaborates about the human factor in management. Management is one of those strange activities that many people practice but which few can define. Not all the stakeholders want the same thing from the firm, and few of them clearly understand themselves what they do want or communicate that understanding to the firm in precise terms. Managers are rational people, dedicated to objective decision making, who will always make a careful study of the available facts before reaching a conclusion. The human factor in management has received extensive analysis by behavioral scientists using a wide range of approaches and theoretical bases. The management role involves planning and the planning process must operate effectively within, and for the benefit of, the human organization.
