Abstract
Environmental assessment (EA) processes have been an important tool in the governance toolbox in Canada for over 40 years. This chapter traces the history of federal EA in Canada from the EARP Guidelines Order to CEAA and the IAA. We also offer some highlights from the historical Canadian EA literature.
