Abstract

The revolution created by the advancements in the field of nanomaterials has spurred the exponential development of the nanoindustry. The wealth of functionalities of nanomaterials contributing to diverse potential applications has led to a surge in the research on multifunctional nanomaterials. Focus of research has shifted increasingly to advancements in engineered nanoparticle systems competent enough in imparting multifunctional applications in various fields, in the recent era. This chapter summarizes the ground breaking applications of multifunctional hybrid nanomaterials, with descriptions of tailoring strategies including the physical and chemical synthesis approaches to obtain anticipated functionalities for desired application. Nanomaterials with enhanced magnetic, electric, mechanical properties, and biological functions and their potential applications are explored. This book chapter gives a brief overview of various applications of nanomaterials like energy generation, electromagnetic wave shielding, transistors, fuel cells, and approaches in development of industrially applications. Particular emphasis is bio-medically relevant materials which paves way to nanomedicine and health care.
