Abstract

Vegetable offerings are provided as a part of regular worship. These type of offerings go back to the time of King Solomon. The offerings are offered by the king on the occasion of the consecration of the temple and the altar. The vegetable offerings are provided as a form of simple, faithful and spontaneous sacrifice, and accompany the animal sacrifice. Many functions that are usually attributed to the sacrifices are never accompanied by a vegetable offering. The vegetable offerings are provided during the inauguration of a place of worship. The vegetable offering is linked with the consecration of the people. The priestly code gives a full description of the sacrificial system, and provides a comprehensive overview of the different circumstances in which the offerings are made. The sacrifices of regular worship are much a part from the sabbatical worship. The original text of the book is in French. Keywords: animal sacrifice; priestly code; sabbatical worship; sacrificial system; vegetable offerings
