Chaotic motion in a coulomb force driven instability: Large aspect ratio experiments

Abstract

In the problem of strong unipolar injection in a liquid (moderate and large aspect ratios) the motion arising above the onset of instability is immediately time-dependent and chaotic. Moreover a characteristic frequency has been found which varies with applied voltage quite similarly to the rms velocity.
