Abstract

Abstract Spontaneous conductivity oscillations are discovered and investigated in Ni-compensated Ge under electron heating at high dc electric field. These oscillations develop from periodic to chaotic state with the applied electric field increases and are characterized by broadband continuous spectra in the range of 4 – 12 kHz. The model discussed includes the hot electron trapping on the repulsive defect centres.
