Abstract

This paper studies an authentication scheme base on multi-path characteristic of wireless channels to authenticate in a dual-hop wireless network. Specifically, to reduce the complexity of decision criterion for this authentication scheme, we employ a simple and efficient quantization method to quantize cascaded channel difference in the dimension of channel amplitude. Moreover, we formulate this authentication scheme under a simple binary hypothesis test. We derive the closed-form expressions of false alarm rate (FAR) and the probability of successful detection (PSD) based on statistical analysis. We design an optimization problem to maximize PSD subject to a FAR constraint. Finally, numerical and simulation results, show that the authentication performance of the proposed authentication scheme can achieve a high PSD along with a low FAR under optimal parameters.
