Abstract

This letter focuses on providing an analytical framework for the quantification and evaluation of high-directional terahertz communication links under pointing errors in terms of outage probability (OP), channel capacity, and symbol error rate (SER). To this end, the probability density function and cumulative distribution function of the end-to-end channel are derived in the presence of pointing errors and small-scale fading. Then, closed-form expressions are derived for the OP, average channel capacity, and SER along with the asymptotic expressions for all the aforementioned performance metrics. Using numerical integral results, the accuracy of the analytical derivations are confirmed. Finally, we use the provided analytical expressions to evaluate the effect of the channel parameters on the system performance in terms of OP, channel capacity, and SER.
