Abstract
The three-dimensional channel structure of catena-((μ 3-hexamethylenetetraamine)-tris-(μ 3-nitrato)-tri-sodium), [(NaNO3)3 · (CH2)6N4] n , is presented. The sodium is seven coordinate with a distorted capped trigonal prism geometry. During heating the hexamethylenetetraamine can be removed from the compound. The principal volatile thermal decomposition and fragmentation products correspond to: C+, , NO+, N2O+.
